does Counselling & Coaching Differ?

Coaching and counselling are both valuable practices for personal growth, but they differ in their approach and focus. Coaching is primarily future-oriented, aiming to improve performance and achieve specific goals, often in a shorter time frame. Counselling, on the other hand, is past and present-oriented, dealing with emotional issues and aiming to heal psychological wounds. Counselling is more reflective, helping clients gain insight and understanding of themselves. Coaches generally work with clients to move forward and achieve goals, while counsellors focus more on healing and self-understanding.




HOw long does a session Last?

Each session typically lasts about 50 minutes, which is considered the standard "therapeutic hour". However, this duration can be flexible and may vary based on your individual needs, the complexity of the issues being addressed, and the specifics of your personalized therapy plan. 

What happens at my first session?

The first counselling session is really about getting to know each other. You’ll talk about what brought you to counselling, a bit about your background, and what you’re hoping to achieve. We will ask some questions to understand your situation and what you need help with. It’s also a chance for you to express any thoughts or concerns you have about the process. The goal is for the counsellor to get a good sense of who you are and start figuring out the best way to support you. You’ll also get a feel for whether this we seem like a good match, which is important for building trust and feeling comfortable going forward.
